Come Play For The Shamrocks!
Before I start trying to pitch playing for the Shamrocks, let me pitch playing rugby!
There is no other sport quite like rugby. Once rugby gets in your blood it usually stays.
Go out to a neighborhood baseball diamond or back lot and chances are you will find young
people playing football, baseball, or whatever sport they are interested in. Now go out to
a rugby pitch on any given weekend and survey the ages of the players and you will notice
something. The people playing rugby are all different ages! Rugby players are as diverse a
crowd as you will ever find. Rugby players cover the gamut from young struggling college
students to successful presidents of large corporations. On the rugby pitch social, age,
and racial barriers disappear and everyone is an equal, just having a hell of a time
playing the sport they love.
The game of rugby is easy to learn, and most rugby players love nothing more than
teaching it to people, so if your not already a rugby player than find a rugby team
somewhere and go play for them! You will not regret it.
Now, if you are already a rugby player and are looking for a club to play for, come
play for the Manhattan Shamrocks! The Manhattan Shamrocks have fielded CARFU's youngest
men's club level team the past few years and are starting to see the dividends. The
Shamrocks are hungry, having struggled at the .500 mark the past few years. But as
Shamrocks graduate, and younger players mature every season the Shamrocks look to be a
force to reckon with. No D-III team plays with as much passion and intensity as the
'Rocks. If your looking for a club to come and grow into something great with, you want to
wear the green and gold, you want to be a Shamrock!
